CHS University Vision

Children's University will take place in the last session on Friday afternoons for the children in year 3, 4, 5 and 6. The children have chosen their courses and they have been allocated one of their top four choices.

Every Friday, the children will be attending their Children's University course and will achieve a stamp for every hour that they attend. In addition to this children will be able get additional stamps for before and after school clubs as long as they have been validated by the CU co-ordinator. At the end of the year, children who achieved specific awards or are specifically chosen will attend a presentation at Birmingham University. Awards will be given in line with the information below:

Described by the Sunday Times as 'The University of Fun', Children's University encourages children to try new experiences, develop new interests and acquire new skills.

We aim for all of our students in years 3-6 to be enrolled on to the Children’s University programme. This is an exciting project that reflects our vision of students learning beyond the classroom and aspiring for excellence.

The children are introduced to the programme at the start of the year in an assembly and are always excited about the chance to collect stamps for after school activities, as well as other activities that they can complete outside of school.

With all of these axtivities on offer in school every student should be able to complete 30 hours of 'study' in their chosen specialism. This will alow them to receive a Bronze award. Some students may go even further and achieve a Silver (60 hours) or even Gold Award (100 hours). Students completing over a 100 hours of learning activities will be invited to a very special graduation ceremony.

How to get involved

This year Children's University would like  pupil's families to be involved with the  launch of CU Families!   This will be a route for CU to directly promote Children's University to you via email.

Children's University families need to send a contact email address which will be held on our database, in complete confidence.  The family will then receive emails directly from CU (only concerning CU, of course) including the 'Learning Destination' Watch, and new activities and opportunties as they become available.

The official national Children’s University Trust™ Awards

There are three groups: Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Doctorate, with four levels in each.  The first level is called the Award level:

30 hours =   Bronze Award certificate
